Kel Landis of Plexus Capital will speak about his role, key responsibilities, his perspective on the market and his book, "The Little Book of Do!"

Kel Landis, III, was born and raised in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, where at the age of 15 he earned his Eagle Scout. He attended the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill where he earned a bachelor’s degree in business and a master’s of business administration.

Kel has over 30 years of experience in banking, financial services, investment management, and private capital and is a founding partner of Plexus Capital, a North Carolina-based investment firm. He co-founded Plexus Capital after retiring as CEO of RBC Centura Bank. Kel also serves as a director of Live Oak Bank, one of the leading lenders to small businesses across the country.

Kel has served as a Trustee of UNC-Chapel Hill, Chair of the UNC Board of Visitors, Trustee of Elizabeth City State University, and as an adjunct professor of finance for the Kenan-Flagler Business School. Currently, he is a member of the UNC Foundation’s board of directors, a member of the board of visitors for the Kenan-Flagler Business School, and a Trustee for The Kenan Institute for Private Enterprise. Kel is also a William C. Friday Fellow for Human Relations.

Kel is a former director of the North Carolina Citizens for Business and Industry and a former chair of the North Carolina Bankers Association. He co-founded and served as Chair of the Foundation of Renewal of Eastern North Carolina. In addition, he is a former board member for the Golden Leaf Foundation, a non-profit organization that supports grants for economically distressed communities. He also served as Senior Advisor for Business and Economic Affairs for the Governor of North Carolina and as Trustee of the North Carolina State Supplemental Retirement Fund. Today Kel is board member for the North Carolina Community Foundation, which provides support for community foundations across the state.

Earlier in his career, Kel was President of the Rocky Mount Chamber of Commerce, President of the Rocky Mount Area United Way, and President of the Rocky Mount Family YMCA. He was also Treasurer of the local homeless shelter, a board member for Nash HealthCare Systems, and a board member for the North Carolina Citizens for Business and Industry. He is also a former member of the Young Presidents Organization.

Join NCER for a members only cookout on Saturday, August 29th at Falls Lake, Shelter 3, Sandling Beach Shelters.

This will be a time of networking and getting to know each other.  Firewurst will be catering the event for just $15.00/person for hotdogs, grilled chicken, a variety sides and drinks. You will also need to pay a $6/car entrance fee when you arrive at the lake.

Ralph DiLeone shares his seven steps to success

Congratulations – you’re in business and things are looking good. So, now what? Have you protected yourself and your partner if something happens before your exit plan kicks in? Do you have an exit plan? Ralph DiLeone, Managing Partner/Attorney of The DiLeone Law Group, will cover strategies to help you prepare to EXIT (planned or not).

Ralph DiLeone obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Case Western Reserve University in 1977, after which he worked for Arthur Andersen & Company in Cleveland, Ohio as a Senior Tax Accountant, and then Marathon Oil Company in Findlay, Ohio as an international tax analyst. Ralph then earned his Juris Doctor cum laude from The University of Toledo College Of Law in 1984 and continued utilizing his accounting and tax background when he began practicing law in 1984.  After about 17 years in large law firms and serving as General Counsel/ Senior Vice President for both a large publicly traded and a privately held corporation, Ralph started his own business – The DiLeone Law Group, PC.  His combination of legal, accounting and business experience has been very influential in operating his own business and in counseling his clients.

Ralph concentrates on all of the general business and corporate matters in which the Firm currently concentrates for U.S. and international corporations in such industries as technology, manufacturing, hospitals, physicians and other health-care organizations, banks, tax-exempt organizations, and various other service businesses.

Ralph is a member of: U.S. Supreme Court Bar; American Bar Association; North Carolina Bar Association; Ohio State Bar Association; Triangle Medical Managers; Brier Creek Country Club; Who’s Who Registry of Global Business Leaders; North Carolina Legal Elite – 2007 and 2013; and The Heritage Registry of Who’s Who (law).

Ralph serves on the Board of Directors for Junior Achievement of Eastern North Carolina and Project Enlightenment Foundation. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce and continues to serve on its Board of Advisors. He participates in the Membership Council.

Ralph is a member of the Knights of Columbus and St. Raphael the Archangel Catholic Church in Raleigh. He has presented estate planning seminars through the Catholic Diocese of Raleigh in parishes throughout the Triangle. He is a guest lecturer in business law classes at two of the law schools in the Triangle as well as being a guest lecturer at one of the business classes at NC State University College of Textiles.
